Complete terms and conditions for delivery services and shipments

Agreement Notice

By purchasing from our platform and selecting delivery, you agree to the terms outlined in this Shipping Policy.

General Terms of Shipment

A shipment refers to all items sent under a delivery order initiated through Local Buy Online Ltd.

Shipments may be transported by any means including road, air, or sea, at the Company's discretion.

Delivery Address

  • Shipments are delivered to the address provided at checkout and not necessarily to the named individual
  • Customers must ensure accurate address information to avoid failed delivery attempts

Unsuccessful Deliveries

  • If undeliverable due to inaccurate information, we'll attempt to return the item at customer's cost
  • If return is not possible, the item may be disposed of without further liability

Shipment Collection & Demurrage Charges

Shipments not collected within 3 working days after arrival at pickup center will incur demurrage fees:

₦600/day
For shipments above 10kg
₦300/day
For shipments below 10kg

Inspection of Goods

  • Our courier partner reserves the right to inspect any goods for verification and security
  • Customers collecting from pickup centers must inspect items thoroughly before departure
  • Complaints after departure will not be entertained

Liability for Loss or Damage

  • Liable only for direct loss or damage up to declared value at dispatch
  • Claims for indirect loss (lost profits, future business) are excluded
  • Only one claim per shipment allowed
  • All claims must be submitted in writing within 24 hours of receipt

Special Item Categories

🍎 Perishable Goods

  • Must be collected immediately upon arrival
  • Unmarked or unidentifiable perishables may be disposed of without notice

💻 Technical Items

  • Pre-delivery testing available upon request for electronic products
  • If testing is declined, we're not responsible for hardware/software issues after delivery
  • No liability for software issues or data loss after delivery

Route & Delivery Completion

  • The delivery route is at the discretion of the Company
  • Delivery is complete when item is handed over at receiver's address or agreed alternative location

Unclaimed Items & Forfeiture

30-Day Rule

Any shipment not picked up within 30 days of arrival shall be considered forfeited and may be disposed of by the Company without liability.

Subcontracting

The Company reserves the right to use third-party logistics partners for fulfillment.

Customs & Documentation

  • Customs duties and taxes for international shipments are customer's responsibility
  • Failure to provide required customs documentation may result in return or disposal at customer's expense

Legal Framework

⚖️ Dispute Resolution

  • Disputes shall be first addressed amicably
  • If unresolved, matters shall be referred to Lagos Multi-Door Courthouse (LMDC) for mediation

⏰ Legal Timeframes for Claims

  • Damage claims: Legal notice within 20 weeks from delivery date
  • Loss claims: Legal notice within 24 weeks from when shipment was declared missing

Final Terms

  • These terms represent the entire shipping agreement
  • No waiver or indulgence by the Company shall affect its rights
